In October, our Doctoral Candidate, Aina Amat (CCS-UPF), represented the Mac4Me Doctoral Network at the Congreso de Comunicación Social de la Ciencia (CCSC25) in Mallorca. ☀️

The CCSC25, a leading event dedicated to the social and public dimensions of science communication, provided the ideal setting to showcase Aina’s work on bridging biomedical breakthroughs with societal understanding.

Aina’s presentation, titled “Metastatic Cancer Research: Perception, Communication, and Inclusivity,” addressed the fundamental question guiding her thesis: How do we ensure that new biomedical advances reach people—and that people feel empowered to engage with them?

Aina detailed her approach to:

  • Perception Analysis: Diagnosing what the public knows and feels (cognitive, attitudinal, and contextual dimensions) about metastatic cancer research.

  • Innovative Models: Creating accessible, culturally sensitive communication strategies to improve public comprehension and trust.

  • Inclusivity: Proposing adapted strategies to meet the specific informational needs of groups with cognitive diversity, language barriers, or the age gap.

At Mac4Me, our mission goes beyond lab discoveries; it’s about ensuring that science translates into real societal impact.
