Characterisation of macrophage metabolism and ageing in the brain metastatic microenvironment of neuroblastoma in response to therapy

Objectives:

  1. Establish standardized humanised 3D Bioprinted microglia (brain macrophages) models for high throughput screening
  2. Identify ageing microglia metabolism markers induced upon interaction with neuroblastoma cells
  3. Select and test potential macrophage-targeted compounds to interfere neuroblastoma cell survival and invasion

Expected Results: Microglia cells are embedded in age-appropriate brain matrix to develop physiologically relevant brain microtissues in 96 well format. This optimised and controlled high throughput 3D Microglia model will deliver the very early metabolic biomarkers of age-related changes. Then, selected druggable targets will be tested in this model to validate their impact on neuroblastoma cell survival and invasion.
